Roger B. Fillingim, PhD
Roger B. Fillingim, Ph.D., is a Distinguished Professor at the University of Florida and Director of the University of Florida Pain Research and Intervention Center of Excellence. Dr. Fillingim maintains an active research program investigating individual differences in pain, including studies of sex, ethnic and age-related differences in the experience of pain. He has received numerous grants from the NIH, including a MERIT Award from the National Institute on Aging. He has published more than 250 scientific articles and has edited three books on pain and authored another one. He has received several awards, including a University of Florida Research Foundation Professorship, and the 2009 Wilbert E. Fordyce Clinical Investigator Award from the American Pain Society. Dr. Fillingim has been a member and supporter of APS for more than 30 years. He has served as Chair of the Scientific Program Committee, Chair of the Education Advisory Committee and was a Director-at-Large from 2009-2011. He served as President of APS from 2012-2014, and since that time has continued his involvement as Chair of the Award Committee and Chair of the Pain Research Fund Committee.
