An Award Honoring the Past and Future
APS is pleased to announce the introduction of the GF Gebhart Journal of Pain Early Career Investigator Award!
The award is named after Past President, Dr. Jerry Gebhart, who was the founding editor of The Journal of Pain. Dr. Gebhart, also founding director of the Pittsburgh Center for Pain Research at the University of Pittsburgh, is internationally renowned for his research on mechanisms and modulation of pain. He has mentored innumerable graduate and medical students, postdoctoral scholars, and colleagues.
The inaugural recipient of the award is Emily Bartley, PhD, from University of Florida. Dr. Bartley was selected for her article "Pain and Fatigue Variability Patterns Distinguish Subgroups of Fibromyalgia Patients" and the overall show of promise of future contributions in the field. She will receive a $1,000 travel stipend to attend the Scientific Summit and will be honored at the Awards Reception.
