APS is pleased to announce the application process for the 2015 Fundamentals of Pain Management: An Interdisciplinary Primer. The course will take place Monday, May 11–Wednesday, May 13, 2015, in Palm Springs, CA. 30 scholarships will be awarded for attendance to the Fundamentals course; an intensive two day course primarily for 3rd and 4th year residents and other select interdisciplinary healthcare providers in training. Applicants in the fields of Anesthesiology, Emergency Medicine, Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Neurology, and Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine are encouraged to apply. Additionally physical and occupational therapy, pharmacy, nursing, advanced practice nursing, psychology, physician assistant and social work trainees are welcome to apply. The scholarships are awarded based on competitive review of the applications plus a recommendation from Residency Program Directors for resident applicants or Department Directors for non-resident trainees.
The Fundamentals course, developed by a group of dedicated pain professionals within the American Pain Society, is designed to provide each participant with a unique opportunity for interdisciplinary learning, a mentored first exposure to the Annual Scientific Meeting, and a foundation for lifelong learning focused on pain management. The APS is proud to offer the Fundamentals course now in its fourteenth year as a premier educational opportunity focused on treating patients with pain.
The Fundamentals course is designed for candidates who are interested in pursuing an academic career involving pain management. Each year the grant provides funding for a specified number of participants to be selected through a competitive scholarship application process.
