Clinical Practice Guideline for Postsurgical Pain
According to numerous studies, the majority of surgical patients receive inadequate pain relief, which can heighten the risk for prolonged postsurgical pain, mood disorders, and physical impairment. The American Pain Society released a new, evidence-based clinical practice guideline in the February issue of The Journal of Pain on the management of postsurgical pain, with 32 recommendations on how to manage pain from the preoperative period on.
